With socio-economic concerns of communities at the forefront, can a plan to save the vaquita be devised in time, and if so, can it work? A species is at stake, a unique, component of the diversity of life struggling to survive along with the rest of us. Can we afford to lose it, and what will it mean for us if we do? How do you convince people that a small, rarely seen mammal, that is of little or no economic value, nor an essential element in the marine ecosystem is worth saving?
